Mt. Asahidake
Hokkaido's highest peak, Mt. Asahidake, has an elevation of 2,291 meters and has been elected as one of Japan’s 100 Most Beautiful Mountains. In summer, the vivid alpine plants and flowers bloom, leading the space to be praised as a "garden where the gods dwell." By taking the Asahidake Ropeway that extends 1,600 meters up the mountain, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Asahidake. Many tourists visit for this sight, especially in autumn when the mountain is dyed fiery colors by the leaves. From winter until spring, the Asahidake Ski Course is colored silver, and the high-quality powder snow is popular among expert skiers. There is also mountain climbing, trekking, cycling, golf, kayaking, and a variety of other activities for visitors to enjoy and refresh their bodies within the nature. After a day of activities, visitors can soothe their fatigue with a visit to the Asahidake Onsen, located 1,100 meters up the side of the mountain.
