Yamatane Museum of Art
The Yamatane Museum of Art is a museum of Japanese art in Tokyo. A particular strength of its collection is on modern Nihonga or Japanese paintings from the Meiji period (1868-1912) and beyond. Paintings are rotated regularly and there are multiple special exhibitions every year, so it is worth revisiting. The museum's stated mission is "to be a museum that transmits the fascination of nihonga, modern Japanese painting, polished in the context of Japan's natural setting and customs, to future generations and to bring moving experiences, new discoveries, joy, and peace to our visitors.
