Sengakuji Temple is a Buddhist temple located in the Takanawa district of Tokyo, Japan. The temple is famous for the 47 ronin (masterless samurai) who are buried here. Also known as the 47 Ako samurai, these warriors planned a revenge for the murder of their master. The story of these masterless samurai has been turned into various books, plays, movies and TV dramas. A memorial ceremony is held every December. The temple is located near Shinagawa station and Sengakuji station.
