Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Museum
The Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Museum is a pear-themed museum in Kurayoshi City. There are exhibits inside, of course, but there is also a stage and a theater, and visitors can have fun while learning about the history of Nijisseiki pear cultivation and the work that goes into growing pears over the course of a whole year. In the circular center of the building, the symbol of this museum, the Nijisseiki Pear Giant Tree, is on display, its branches spread out to cover the ceiling.
Throughout the entire year, visitors can taste and compare three kinds of seasonal pears at the most popular corner in the museum, the Pear Kitchen Gallery. Several different species of pears are cultivated in the pear garden outside, and depending on the season, visitors can also try their hand at some of the work that goes into pear cultivation themselves. After touring the museum, visitors can then take a break at the Fruit Parlor, which is directly managed by the museum. Here, patrons can relax while eating sweets made with pears and Nijisseiki pear soft serve ice cream.
