Nippara Limestone Caves
The Nippara Limestone Caves are the largest discovered cave in the region around Tokyo, Japan. It is located in the mountains of the Okutama area outside Tokyo and is accessible by bus from the Okutama train station. The temperature in the cave is at a constant 11 degrees Celsius throughout the year, so make sure to dress appropriately. Inside you can see icicles, stalagmites and a white bodhisattva statue. Some of the limestones are illuminated with colorful lights. If you are interested in caves and are staying in Tokyo, the Nippara caves are a great choice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis and experience some nature.
