Namazu no Sato is a large sports park in the south of Fukutsu city, Fukuoka Prefecture. It's a great place to enjoy the changing seasons, and it is a popular local recreation spot. The park's name means Home of Catfish. The nearby shrine is associated with a catfish legend that gave the park its name. According to the legend, a huge catfish rescued a military commander when he was drowning in a marsh. He believed that the catfish had been a manifestation of the local deity worshipped at Omori Shrine. Since then locals in Fukutsu have revered catfish.
