Nakano Broadway
Nakano Broadway is home to a collection of specialty anime stores that deal in figures, rare manga, and more. Also called the "holy ground of subculture" and in contrast to Akihabara, which is full of shops that cater to a wide variety of fans, Nakano Broadway is known as a place where rare merchandise of a variety on genres can be purchased. The first floor consists of general stores such as a supermarket and restaurants, and the specialty shops are gathered on the second through fourth floors. The specialty manga shop Mandarake, which began business in 1980 and was the trigger for shops that conceptualize Nakano Broadway subculture to assemble, and Tacoche, which offers a selection of out-of-print books and independent productions, are particularly famous.
