Mt. Misen
Standing at over 1755 feet (535 meters) above sea level, Mt. Misen is the highest peak on Miyajima Island. With beautiful scenic views and lush forest, Mt. Misen is a destination visitors to Hiroshima Prefecture should make sure not to miss. Occasionally, visitors will manage to spot deer wandering the mountain near the walking paths, and much more rarely, wild monkeys that inhabit the forest. For those who want to visit without making the climb, there is a network of ropeways that lead up the mountain. At the summit, visitors will be rewarded with a stunning view of the mountain’s lush forest and the Seto Inland Sea. Those interested in Buddhist temples can also make a stop at Daishoin Temple on their way up.
