Mt. Aso
Mt. Aso is not a single mountain, but a generic name to refer to Mt. Nekodake, Mt. Takadake, Mt. Nakadake, Mt. Eboushidake, Mt. Kishimatake, and these five mountains are collectively called "the five mountains of Aso." They were born through the repeated volcanic activity that started about 300,000 years ago. It began being regarded as an object of faith and a stage for myths an incredibly long time during Japan's ages of mountain worship. Now, it offers magnificent scenery where you can enjoy different expressions throughout the four seasons, such as the upside down Mt. Aso reflected in the paddy fields in summer or the gliding sea of clouds in winter.
