Motosuko Lake
Lake Motosuko in Yamanashi Prefecture is easily recognizable to anyone who has used Japanese currency—the scenery of the lake with Mt. Fuji in the background is pictured on the back of 1,000yen bills. The lake is counted as one of the Fuji Five Lakes, and visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the still, blue water surrounded by greenery and the mountain looming behind.
The lake is located within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, so there is plenty of untouched nature to enjoy. There are a number of campsites surrounding the lake for visitors who wish to spend a leisurely visit, and there are also places to enjoy cruising or fishing. For those who want a little more comfort during their stay, there are also many lakeside hotels to stay in.
Lake Motosuko is an excellent place to escape the bustle of daily life or practice budding photography skills, so anyone with some extra time during their stay in Japan should make sure to stop by.
