Kintaikyo Bridge
Kintaikyo Bridge is a picturesque wooden arch bridge built over the Nishikigawa River. It is characterized by its five arches, and it is also counted as one of three most famous bridges in Japan. The charm of Kintaikyo Bridges comes not just from the bridge itself, however, but also from the surrounding scenery; it is a popular tourist destination in spring and autumn to see cherry blossoms and colorful foliage respectively.
Additionally, about a ten-minute walk from the bridge is the Iwakuni Castle Ropeway. From here, visitors can look out at Kintaikyo Bridge, the old castle town, the surrounding nature, and even as far as the Seto Inland Sea.
