Kaikyo Yume Tower
Kaikyo Yume Tower is a landmark in Shimonoseki that boasts a height of 153 meters. The spherical glass dome of the observatory is said to be the world's first, and the panoramic view includes not only the Kanmon Straits, but also a spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea, Ganryu Island, the mountains on the opposite side of Kyushu, and the Sea of Japan. The tower is a popular spot for couples to enjoy the sea shining in the evening sunset and the night view of Shimonoseki and Kyushu. A variety of nighttime illuminations are held, and the colors change depending on the season and day of the week. In the history panel on the tower's 28th floor, visitors can learn about the famous Battle of Dan-no-ura and the Duel of Ganryujima in Shimonoseki while observing the actual battlegrounds.
