Kaba Zaiku Denshokan Craft Museum
The Kaba Zaiku Denshokan Craft Museum in Akita Prefecture was opened in 1978 in order to promote cherry bark craftwork, following the official designation of this craft as a traditional handicraft of national importance. Within the museum, live demonstrations of kaba zaiku work take place, and you can witness the refined technical skills of the craftsmen at first hand. There are also materials relating to local handicrafts, culture and history on display, and with a gift shop and a tearoom attached, you’ll find it easy to while away some time looking around here.
