Honohoshi Kaigan Beach
Honohoshi Kaigan Beach is a gravel beach running along the southernmost tip of Amami Oshima Island. It's a strange beach where, when the waves roll in and out, rocks smash together making a sound like drums. It's also known as a power spot. The waves here are rough, so the beach is not good for swimming. However, the area is filled with round stones, and there are also caves and beautifully maintained open spaces, making it a great spot to stop and stretch your legs during a drive. The stones cut into round shapes by the waves are beautiful, and you might want to take some home as souvenirs, but please note that taking any pebbles from the shore out of the beach is not allowed.
