Despite it being winter time, the weather was really pleasant as the Sun was out so I decided to make a trip to Shinjuku Gyoen. There weren't many people since it was a weekday, and most of the trees were a bit barren, but I still had a wonderful time walking around and exploring the place. A short walk from Sendagaya station, Shinjuku Gyoen also had entrances from Shinjuku station (Shinjuku gate) and Shinjuku-gyoenmae station (Okido gate). I really liked all the rest stops throughout the park as it allowed visitors to sit and admire the views from it; one can almost imagine what it'd look like in spring. One of my personal favorites was the greenhouse: the humidity inside as well as all the tropical plants and flowers reminded me of my time in Malaysia. An unexpected highlight was the huge plum blossom tree and its flowers that had completely bloomed so I, along with several other people, spent a good amount of time taking many photos of it. Given a few more weeks, the park grounds will undoubtedly be a mix of pink and white's. Another reason I wanted to visit Shinjuku Gyoen was to find the famous rest stop in the movie "The Garden of Words"; I did manage to find it and it felt so surreal to sit there and see what the characters saw. Overall, a super fun time at Shinjuku Gyoen and I definitely recommend making at least a quick stop there during your next visit.
