Sawanoi Sake Brewery
Sawanoi Sake Brewery is a brewery of Japanese rice wine, located in the Mitake Valley on the outskirts of Tokyo. It is also called Sawanoi Ozawa Brewery and is a short walk away from Sawai station on the JR Ome Line. You can easily access the location by train from Shinjuku. The brewery was founded in 1702 and can look back on a long history and tradition that is documented at its sake museum. Another highlight is the brewery's Japanese garden, located on the banks of the Tama River. You can taste sake at the brewery and learn about its production. You can also buy locally produced sake as a souvenir. Please note that you need be 20 years or older to drink or purchase alcoholic drinks in Japan - staff may require an ID check. You can also go for walks along the river and sample local cuisine at nearby Japanese restaurants. The location is great for a day trip from Tokyo.
