Sanmachisuji Street
In the heart of a Takayama castle town that developed as a merchant town, "Sanmachisuji Street" has become a classic Takayama location. Built in the fashion of a historical village, irrigated water flows under the eaves of the latticed windows, "Sakebayashi" balls made of cedar leaves can be found hanging at sake breweries, and the eaves of townhouse gates and long-established shop curtains are lined up. In town, there are rows of confectionery shops, traditional craft shops, and famous "Mitarashi Dango" shops. For a design aesthetic rarely seen in the modern era, Sanmachisuji Street is a unique location. Fans of history will find much to appreciate from Sanmachisuji Street.
