Mt. Oyama
Mt. Oyama, with an altitude of 1,252 meters, is located in the center of Kanagawa Prefecture. With its beautiful pyramid-like shape, it has been revered as a sacred mountain since ancient times, and it was also regarded as a deity of water and marine navigation protection during the Edo period. In lieu of its historical and cultural impact, the Agency for Cultural Affairs designated Mt. Oyama as a Japan Heritage Site in 2016.
The surrounding areas have retained historical townscapes, and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a number of specialty cuisines, such as tofu and konjac made with fresh spring water from the mountain, kyarabuki (a dish made by boiling down butterbur stems in soy sauce), local sake, and more.
