Monet's Pond
Monet's Pond in Gifu prefecture was, until the advent of social media, a nondescript pond next to Nemichi Shrine. With people all over the world being exposed to photography of the world's most beautiful locations, it didn't take long for the internet to draw comparison's between the scenic waters of the formerly nameless pond and the water lilies artwork of Claude Monet. Shallow and with colorful Japanese carps, it had up to that point just been a beautiful unnamed site. Visitors interested in natural beauty, the works of Claude Monet, or just the rapid dissemination of ideas in the internet era will find something of value in Monet's Pond.
