Koshima Jinja Shrine
Beautiful Scenery
Free Admission
Koshima Jinja Shrine is a Shinto shrine on a small island in Nagasaki prefecture that is only accessible when the tide is low. When the tide is high, the island seems inaccessible, but during ebb, a small passageway appears. The name Koshima Jinja literally means 'small island shrine' and is a fitting name because it is indeed the whole island that is sacred. It is said that for this reason visitors are prohibited from taking any natural objects from the island.
