Kiyosumi Teien Garden
Kiyosumi Teien Garden is a Japanese-style strolling garden in eastern Tokyo. It was officially created in the late 19th century during the Meiji period, but it is thought to have earlier historical roots. The garden features a sprawling pond with a walking path around its perimeter and plenty of greenery. The abundant plant life also makes the garden a popular spot for viewing autumn foliage. The garden, located just next to Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station, is easily accessible from Tokyo or Shinjuku stations.

Kiyosumi Teien Garden, while a bit removed from many of Tokyo’s hotspots such as Shinjuku or Shibuya, is one of the most beautiful teien gardens in the city. It has a large pond with a strolling path around it, and the surrounding land is covered in lush greenery. There is also a tea house and several places to sit and rest.
Nearby the garden are also a number of artisan coffee shops and mom-and-pop restaurants. The Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine and Museum of Contemporary Art are also within walking distance, so it’s easy to spend a whole day in the area.
