Kappabuchi Pool
The Kappabuchi Pool is situated within Iwate Prefecture and is said in folklore to be home to the Kappa. These mystical water sprites are said to be mischievous humanoid turtles but are beloved by the locals. Visitors can even join folklorist fishing for them with cucumber by visiting the nearby tourist center to purchase a permit in an attempt to capture the mythical creature too. Oddly enough, next to the pond is a small shrine for the Kappa where women pray for an abundance of milk for their children. This location is a great getaway for families with children looking for a pleasant family fun adventure.
