Jodogahama Beach
Jodogahama Beach in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, lies in the middle of Sanriku Fukko National Park and Sanriku Geopark. It is famous for its beautiful scenery; one of its defining characteristics is the white surfaces of the volcanic rock on the outcrops surrounding the coast. During warmer seasons, the natural contrast between the translucent emerald green sea water, the white rock, and the green of the dense pine trees growing from the surface of the rocks creates a breathtaking view. The rock surrounds the beach, resulting in a cove-like shape and gentle waves that make it a popular swimming destination in summer. The arrival of winter brings an entirely different atmosphere, and visitors can enjoy the deep ultramarine of the ocean and bright silver of the snow-covered rocky outcrops.
