Higashitaisetsu Nature Center
The Higashitaisetsu Nature Center is a composite museum located close to Nukabirako Lake in Hokkaido that exhibits the nature and ecosystem of the Higashitaisetsu region as well as historical artifacts. The premises are divided into two sections: the Nukabira Gensenkyo Visitor Center and the Higashitaisetsu Museum. In the Nukabira Gensenkyo Visitor Center, the mountains and diverse ecosystem of the Higashitaisetu region are introduced through panels and stuffed specimens. The Higashitaisetsu Museum displays insect specimens from both inside Daisetsuzan National Park and around the world. There are around 5,000 panels and quizzes as well as observation corners that use stereoscopic microscopes. There is also sightseeing information and sales of local specialty goods within the facility, so it's a convenient place to casually stop by during a trip.
