Eshima Ohashi Bridge
Eshima Ohashi Bridge stretches between Sakaiminato City and Matsue City of Tottori Prefecture. It is 1,446.2 meters in length and 45 meters high at its tallest point, characteristic of its steep slope. In the past, this bridge was used in a TV commercial for cars. Due to that, it became popularly known as "Beta-fumi Zaka," which was a famous line from the commercial and literally means "pedal to the metal hill." With a visual angle of 45 degrees, depending on where it's viewed from, what's beyond the top of the hill isn't visible, leading to an oddly unique scene as if the cars are driving up and off into the sky. A particularly interesting view is at twilight. If the setting sun is directly behind the bridge, it looks like the cars are being absorbed by the sun itself.
