Ashikaga Flower Park
Ashikaga Flower Park is famous for having a spectacular giant wisteria tree as big as 250 tatami straw mats (the name of the wisteria tree is interestingly “250-Tatami Great Wisteria”), and the best time to visit the park would be from mid-April to mid-May. Aside from the 250-tatami wisteria, the park’s other 4 large wisteria trees and a 80-meters-long white wisteria tree tunnel have both been recognized as Tochigi Prefecture’s Natural Monument. Throughout the year, as the park is being decorated with flowers blooming all year round, it also draws in more than 1.5 million annual visitors. From October to February, Ashikaga Flower Park is known for its illumination lights, which is said to be one of Japan’s best three illumination light shows, and it has been nominated as Japan’s national #1 illumination three times in succession, from 2016 to 2018.
