Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine, a World Heritage SIte, used to be one of the largest sources of the world’s silver. The site was recognized as environmentally friendly industrial operation due to conservation efforts, such as planting trees.
You can explore the tunnel where silver was mined about 300 years ago, as well as the historical townscape of that time. It is a popular place with great variety of shops and cafes.
