Mitokusan Sanbutsuji Temple is located on Mt. Mitokusan, which has an elevation of about 900 meters. Its Nageiredo Hall, a National Treasure, is built on a sheer cliff; to reach it, one must climb a steep mountain path, parts of which are extremely narrow or require chains to use. In this video, the trail up Mt. Mitokusan and the scenery visible from the temple is introduced.
Mt. Mitokusan is known as a place to purify the mind and body through worship and soothe the mind and body through hot-spring baths. This story, entitled "A Site for Purifying the Six Roots of Perception and Healing the Six Senses," is recognized as a Japan Heritage Site by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
