Nagasaki Prefecture is located on the west coast of Kyushu and is known for its volcanoes, forested offshore islands, and hot springs. It is known as the prefecture with the most islands among all the prefectures in Japan. Nagasaki City, the capital of the prefecture, was devastated by the atomic bombing in 1945, and there is a Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Museum that chronicle the devastation.
